I'm wondering though, is the A340-500's fuselage similar to an A340-300. The significantly visible difference would be the engines. Totoo ba yun?

The A340-300 shares the same fuselage as the A330-300. The A340-300 is 63.67m long whereas the A340-500 is 67.93m long.

Not really. At this time, the A340-500 is now the hottest selling ultra long long range aircraft but is slowly being eaten up by the 777-200LR Worldliner which can even fly farther and is more fuel efficient. Some airlines still uses it.
