Here are some of the old images of our airport back in the days when it was still known as MIA and PAL's BAC 1-11 roars on its tarmac. Hope you enjoy the pics. Courtesy of my uncle's baul: How cool is that, rear stair boarding. It still uses our old registration format PI-C1141. Old! back when Philippine Airlines was still PHILIPPINE AIR LINES (would anyone know when and why this change happened? Thanks!) You can also see some DC-3s sa malayo taxiing Hope you enjoyed them! ;D

Nice! Was this taken at the old domestic? I remember when I was young, I always wanted to seat at the rear section of the BAC111 as I loved boarding at the rear stairs.
Was this also a 111-100? She seems short as compared to the latter 111s.

Nope Evo. It's the old Manila International Airport. The one were Centennial currently stands on. This was waaaay before NAIA 1. Wow, I never get to experience the BAC 111s. We were suppose to take one, then suddenly got substituted with the brand new Boeing 737-300. But hey who's complaining, brand new yun! It's my first plane trip. Roxas City yung flight! ;D
Nope it's a BAC 1-11 400. It came in in 1966. It got replaced in 1971 by the -500 also known as the SUPER PALJET. Nice noon, planes have names.

I remember seeing these birds fly above our house. They were so noisy, especially when they fly low!

We used to bring my dad to the old MIA to board his flights to Saudi. Isang buong jeep kami. Of course there was the requisite stop for lunch or breakfast at Manila Zoo. What i liked about this airport was that you can pay a fee for you to be able to go up the viewing deck and actually look at the aircraft even though you are not a passenger. All of us wanted to win the "be the first one to spot the kamag anak" emerging off the aircraft. Got to use MIA too, took 2 days i think and 2 stops before reaching Riyadh. Now, its just a 9 hour trip.

I was checking again the pics, and I noticed that water tower from afar. So this used to be were the Centennial terminal now sits. Wow, there was so much land free before. Wish they would have forecasted a growth in air traffic so they would have purchased a huge chunk of land so expansion would have been easier.

The same one I think that was made to look like an Italian tiled mosaic. Yep spot on ka evo. Well I think noon pa, we lack foresight and planning things. At kung nasa planning stage palang, baka hindi na payagan ang Merville, no offense sa residents, to build their property dun.

i agree on the foresight thing. Personally, looking on the masterplan for Clark, i think they alloted enough land for Clark expansion. They cut up the land and doled it out, trying to please everyone.

The runway congestion now in NAIA is bad. All airlines are expanding, more airlines are coming in. I dont know what the final plans for CRK is. But in order for them to make CRK the main airport, they need a super efficient transport and road system.
