This year, I get to finally experience PAL's brand new 777-300ER, (RP-C7776) on my first trip to Tokyo! It was fun and the plane was so spacious! Here are some of the pics taken on the said trip.
Here she is. PAL's brand new 777-300ER plane ready to depart for Narita! RP-C7776 is commonly used for this leg. Her sister, RP-C7777 is used for Australia.
PAL Boeing 777-300ER;RP-C7776
Here is another PAL jet bound for the land of the rising sun. I think this was for Osaka.
PAL A330-300
Before 2 I think, all passengers for Tokyo were called. Everyone was ushered into the huge twin that is the 777.
This was my seat for the 4 hour flight.
Once inside and as I started to settle in to my seat, the cabin crew went around and warmly greeted each passenger with an array of drinks and some reading materials. I took my orange juice and started to browse through the menu
As I look out of my window, the old Philippine Village Hotel came into view. Wouldn't it be great for the hotel to return to full operation and see the jets taking off, taxiing or just idly sitting there from your hotel room. For some it might be a nuisance but for me, it will definitely be worth paying for.
It will be a good area for spotters too! I did remember staying there when I was a kid. Little did I know then that the hotel was that close to the tarmac.
The old PVH
The door was finally closed and PR432 is finally set to fly for Tokyo. The plane was pushed back and slowly it passed by its siblings. Some of them about to fly to probably CEB and DVO and the other one is surely bound for some exotic Asian destination.
Sayonara Manila. PAL's Airbus A330, A320 and a Boeing 747 bid us farewell.
The 777 was so spacious and huge inside. Even when the seats recline to a full-flat position there would be still enough space for you. As the 777 started taking off, you can't really hear it's mighty GE engines. Those engines are so quiet yet it would amaze you how 2 of it can provide the power needed to lift the behemoth to the sky. The 777 just blew me off in terms of the space, interiors, and the sheer power it produces. Top notch plane in my book.
As the giant calmly cruises over the Pacific, we were served with Salmon and Fish roe for appetizer and some bubblies to boot while watching Shutter Island.
After that, some greens, bread and some fruits were brought in.
After that the beef that I ordered arrived. The picture is non-existent as I was to busy savoring the tender morsel. The food was good! Good for an airplane food I have to say. A choice of tea or coffee was brought after with your choice of ice cream.
Overall the flight was great. The food was good and the service of the crew was great. Even on the outbound leg I get to experience the same good service and the friendliness of PAL's cabin crew, contrary to what others would say back in our old forum. I don't really get some people's angst about the airline which I would say is okay. Been through more worse and but, I'd say PAL is up there in my list of one of the okay airlines.
As our seats were put back in their upright position, tray tables stowed and belts secured, slowly Tokyo reveals itself to us. The warm sunset starts to paint the clouds and gradually turns it into a darker shade, we slowly circle for our final approach to Narita. And a few moments later Japan welcomes us!
Landing was smooth as always with PAL's pilots! but I wasn't prepared at all for the long ride to Tokyo from the airport. I mean it was FAR!
This was taken on the way back to Manila.
SQ's A380 Notice how big the plane is. This is the second time I saw the plane again. The first time was waaay back when the it visited NAIA. We got to see the A380 upclose then. I know it was HUGE but in terms of scale, mas nakita ko siya zt na appreciate with the airport in front of it!
JAL's 777-300
The time has come for this plane to take over as JL's flagship. JL's retiring all of its 747s. I'm sad knowing that gradually the 747 looses the battle at the same time it show the changing of times at JAL as it fights bankruptcy.
Hope you enjoyed them! ;D
