Is this a real thing or just another rumored thing like CebuPac's 777 of SQ before?

ZEST AIR FLEET EXPANSION (http://www.zestair.com.ph/zest_airs_fleet_expansion.html) Zest Air recently acquired its fourth Airbus, the 144-seater Airbus 319 last October 2010 to meet passenger demand on Zest Air’s domestic and international destinations. The company will be receiving delivery of two (2) more airbus aircraft Airbus A-320 with 174/180 seating configuration this mid December, 2010 as part of its expansion plans. According to Zest Air’s President Mr. Alfredo Yao, the company will be adding more planes to its fleet as part of its long term plans. Internal and external operational provisions are also being weighed for efficient fleet expansion. Currently, Zest Air has four (4) Airbus aircraft and four Modern Ark 60s (MA60s). By the end of 2011, the company will have acquired additional aircraft in operations on top of its existing fleet. Zest Air is also mulling over the acquisition of two B-777s for its intended long haul flights which may commence during the third or fourth quarter of next year. VP-Marketing, Mr. Leveric T. Ng added that flights from Kalibo to Incheon have been increased from four times weekly to daily effective Dec. 21, 2010. Kalibo to Pusan and Cebu to Incheon retains its twice weekly flights. Zest Air will be flying twice weekly to Shanghai starting January 24, 2011. More international destinations (Taipei, Palau, Singapore, Bahrain and Dammam) are currently being considered and negotiated. On the domestic front, the company will be increasing domestic frequencies on their top destinations (Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod among others) to offer better passenger choice and convenience. Zest Air is presently operating to twenty (20) domestic destinations as follows: Boracay via Kalibo, Bacolod, Busuanga Northern Palawan, Calbayog, Catarman, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Marinduque, Masbate, Puerto Princesa Palawan, San Fernando La Union, San Jose Occidental Mindoro, Tablas in Romblon, Tacloban, Tagbilaran in Bohol and Virac in Catanduanes. Nice! But 777s for an LCC? Or are they just planning to be a legacy carrier? 777s, unless they get a 777-300ER and fly it like the Air Asia X on a hybrid carrier class, may prove fatal to the company. Air Asia X uses an A330. Its A340 is a guzzler but maybe ROI is faster than getting a 777.

We are guessing 777-200s of SQ. I would like to wish them the best of luck though. Never heard of an LCC operating 777s.

It can seem dull as compared to 2P and 5J

I think 5J and 2Ps livery is better..
Lets have them aquire that asap they will be eaten by its fleet and overhead cost.
777- not appropriate for an LCC. except if your as big as air asia.

I have to agree with that. Cebu Pacific is making good money because as an LCC, they kept things simple. Operate A320s and a few ATRs for the little runways. They did not even bother to get A330s.
Zest Air to operate 777s is like digging its grave further. They were already overtaken by 2P. They need to regain their market share.

We have to see what's next for these guys. I do agree they're thinking way over their heads for getting a 777. They will now have 3 kinds of plane in their fleet. 777, MA-60 and the Airbus. Not a wise decision I think considering their fleet size. I do agree their livery is fugly. Better ang 2P at 5J.
