I also read they plan to buy Boeing which is very impossible that Boeing will sell out.
First of all, USA has interests in Boeing as they produce military equipments. The best fighters now like the F-15 and the F-18E/F are made by Boeing. They have so much military and weaponry capabilities that if Emirates buys them, it would increase the gulf's military strength wherein the US would of course, not allow this to happen.
As for Airbus, I think all they produce are commercial aircrafts and do not have weaponry capabilities. I just dont know how other airline companies would react to this.
